Do blind dates really work?

My friend is going on a blind date recommended by a friend. However I do not consider it a blind date anymore because he did a Facebook search on her. I don't think that was the point of the fun of meeting someone you have no clue.
Regardless he is still going and he is excited about it. I think blind dates were a lot more popular back before Facebook because it could happen easily. Facebook not only tears apart marriages but it also stops you from a common blind date.
How many blind dates have you all been on? I'm dying alone so I don't plan on being on one but they are enjoyable to hear what happened. Do you think they make lasting relationships?

  1. I've personally never been on a blind date, but I don't think I'd be able to! I'm too much of a facebook creep and also just plain nosy so there's no way I'd make it to the blind date. I think they could make lasting relationships though. If it truly is a blind date, where each person knows nothing about the other, it could turn out for the good. They each have the chance to explain themselves for any past baggage and don't have to rely on facebook gossip and drama to ruin the relationship. I think it depends on the couple.
